Jon Froomin is a retired Police Chief from the Coronado Police Department in San Diego County. Jon served the City of Coronado in that capacity from 2013-2018. Prior to leading in Coronado, Jon spent about 30 years with the Foster City Police Department. His tenure began in 1983 as a volunteer police explorer. In 1988 he became a full-time police officer. In that capacity, he worked motorcycle patrol, investigations, and general patrol. He rose through the ranks of corporal, sergeant, lieutenant, and ultimately captain. He trained new officers as a field training officer and led the Department’s training program as a lieutenant. As a captain he spent time in both field services as well as administration.
Jon has two associate degrees from the College of San Mateo and a bachelor’s degree in public administration with a concentration in law enforcement leadership from the University of San Francisco. Jon is a graduate of the California POST Command College program as well as the LAPD West Point Leadership Program. He also prides himself on being an Eagle Scout.
Jon has served his community in a variety of capacities. He has volunteered for Special Olympics both in Northern and Southern California for over 20 years, has been a member of the Foster City Lions Club since 2000, he volunteers at his local hospital, and through meals on wheels. Since 2020, Jon is also an elected member of his local city council.
Jon has been married since 1992 and has three grown children and two grandchildren.
